The interface for the voices was revamped. New functionality includes a text editor, voice control sliders, loading and saving texts, and sharing the results with your friends. An extensive help menu was added giving you access to the FAQ page, list of apps that use the Android TTS interface, user testimonials, and more.

“Oliver” and “Yuri” male voices released

Update 2.0.9 of the Classic Engine

We’re happy to release version 2.0.9 of the Classic Engine that solves two issues users had reported about:

Voice settings are now correctly saved when the device reboots
Stability problems with TTS Extended on Android 2.1 fixed

“Won’t install” problem

There are occasional problems with Android Market that make it impossible to install a paid app. The installation fails because of a locked file. Solutions are to mount the phone on the PC and manually remove “/mnt/secure/asec/smdl2tmp1.asec” or an empty folder named “.android_secure”.

Navigation Issue Solved in Latest Update

Several users reported that their voice stopped working in Google Navigation. The reason was a mismatch between the voice you’ve purchased and the default language on your Android. Update 2.0.6 of the Classic engine fixes this problem. The UK English voice will be used even if the language setting on your device is US English, and vice versa.

Alternatively if you use the UK English voice you can go to Android Settings -> Language & keyboard -> Select language and select English (United Kingdom) .

More than 25 languages and 30 voices in Android Market

SVOX Mobile Voices now offers over 25 languages in the Android Market and over 30 voices.

The available languages are Arabic, Czech, Mandarin, Danish, German, Greek, English UK, English US, Finnish, French, French CA, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Portuguese BR, Russian, Spanish, Spanish MX, Swedish, Turkish, and Cantonese.

Male voices for most languages to be added in the coming days!
